Dr Peter Evans

Graduated from Onderstepoort in 1983

Joined CS Vet in 1993

Peter was raised on a mixed, cattle and crop farm in the Freestate where he developed a passion for agriculture. In 1998 Peter was offered the opportunity to farm pigs for a cousin in the Freestate. This was a totally new piggery where he was intimately involved in planning the buildings and start-up phase, reticulation systems, labour management and training, management systems and effluent systems. This experience has stood him in good stead to offer a comprehensive service as a consultant in the pig industry. Peter considers the following to be his strong points: general consultancy service, computer management systems, data analysis, disease surveillance and cost-benefit analysis. Peter’s interests also include developing employees on farm and ensuring that this valuable resource is used to its full potential.

Dr Andrew Tucker

Graduated from Onderstepoort in 2003.

Joined CS Vet in 2006.

Growing up on a piggery certainly gave Andrew an insight into the pig industry. It also helped him understand on-farm practices from labour through to managerial level. Andrew initially entered the pig industry as a veterinary consultant in England where he worked a one year contact with British Quality Pork (East Anglia), an integrated contract company with a large share of the British market. Andrew’s primary interest is production optimisation by focusing on practical ways to bring about improvement. He also finds new projects, modernisation, expansions and future planning very interesting.

Dr Heinz Bodenstein

Graduated from Onderstepoort in 2010.

Joined CS Vet in 2011.

The complexity of biology has always fascinated Heinz and this is what drove him to study veterinary science. During his years of study he came across the pig industry and his interest and enthusiasm for the industry grows by the day. The decision to become a pig veterinarian was mainly due to the fact that a successful pig veterinarian is a person that is able to integrate knowledge from various fields of study. Heinz’ interests include nutrition, disease investigation and the economics of pig farming. 929 4774
